The unit plan is organized to optimize the student's learning about functions. We start by relearning a function that the student's already know. The Pythagorean Theorem will open up the door for functions and relating functions to the real world. As we deepen our understanding of functions and how they work, how they are composed, and how to manipulate them, we learn more and more applications of functions in the real world.
Monday: Concept Development Lesson- The Pythagorean Theorem
Tuesday: SMART Board/Inquiry Lesson- Introduction to Functions
Wednesday: Direct Instruction Lesson- Parent Functions
Thursday: Cooperative Learning Lesson- Dilation and Translation of Functions
